Worth the Journey

We had seen Michelin's new Singapore office in drawings and on site. On 28 September, we got to see it in celebration. A lion dance marked the grand opening, where we joined Michelin's staff, guests, and project partners. For our team at Conexus Studio, the pleasure was sharing the moment with the people we had worked alongside to get there.

Moving to Keppel South Central (KSC), a next-generation, super low-energy commercial tower, marks a significant shift in how Michelin uses its workspace. Previously occupying two floors in a traditional, siloed layout, Michelin has halved its office footprint and embraced a more agile, collaborative way of working on one connected floor. The new office brings together spatial efficiency, flexibility, and a more considered approach to sustainability, aligning the workplace more closely with Michelin’s wider values.

But the workplace is more than the space it occupies. It is also about the people who shape it, the conversations that happen along the way, and the details that make it feel like their own.

Throughout the project, we worked closely with Michelin’s internal team to bring employees into the process. Looking around, the completed office brought back memories of the design reviews, furniture selection, and site visits along the way. Furniture mock-ups, town halls, voting exercises, and monthly newsletters gave employees opportunities to contribute and prepare for their new environment. On opening day, we could step back and enjoy seeing those choices take their place in the finished workplace.

One particular favourite memory was seeing room for personality in the smaller decisions too. When our furniture vendor invited Michelin's team to name their selected task chair, they came up with ‘Melin’ after several discussions and voting. That one still makes us smile. An office move involves plenty of consequential decisions; naming a chair might not rank among the biggest, but it's one we will remember.

Congratulations to the Michelin team on this exciting new chapter and thank you for letting us be part of the journey.

Now that the Michelin team has settled into its new home, we look forward to seeing how the space evolves with them, supporting new ways of working, bringing colleagues closer together and making room for the everyday moments that turn an office into a community.
