Where Movement Meets Collaboration: ComfortDelGro’s New Headquarters
ComfortDelGro enters a fresh chapter with the relocation to a new, sustainable headquarters in western Singapore — marking a transition shaped by progress, purpose and people. Designed and built by Conexus Studio, the workplace reimagines how the organisation operates and connects, with spatial strategies that support movement, interaction and adaptability. A carefully considered environment balances operational performance with employee wellbeing, resulting in a headquarters designed to support evolving ways of working while offering a cohesive and welcoming experience for all who move through it.
A Journey in Motion Connecting Heritage and Future
Inspired by the pulse of urban life, the design concept, “Urban Rhythm”, draws from ComfortDelGro’s transport-centric ethos, translating movement, connectivity, and flow into a coherent spatial narrative. The reception serves as the heart of the office, oriented to capture expansive sea views and bring in natural light, creating a sense of openness that feels calm and uplifting. The sightlines frame the outdoors as an integral part of the interior experience, strengthening the connection between the workplace and its surrounding environment. Beyond welcoming visitors, the space also functions as a flexible town hall, supporting meetings, teamwork, and shared moments, with the company’s ethos and values expressed through the design’s flow and vistas.
Designing Movement: Where Flow Meets Connectivity
Layered ceilings and soft, organic curves guide the eye and the body through the space, creating a seamless circulation that mirrors the rhythm of a busy city. Warm timber grounds the palette in tactile richness, adding depth and warmth throughout the interiors, while dark blue accents provide subtle definition and a nod to ComfortDelGro’s brand identity. Tiered lighting supports both collaboration and focused work, while the spatial planning balances social areas with quieter zones, maintaining a workplace that feels active yet welcoming.
Fluid Spatial Design: Organic curves and layered ceilings guide movement, while timber finishes and natural light enhance warmth and openness. Circulation flows seamlessly, creating a lively environment.
Flexible Experience: Reception and collaborative zones adapt effortlessly for casual interactions, formal meetings, and town hall gatherings, encouraging spontaneous collaboration while supporting ComfortDelGro’s dynamic workplace culture.
Serendipitous Connections: Fostering Collaboration and Creativity
Social hubs, breakout areas, and collaborative zones are deliberately designed to encourage spontaneous encounters and spark new ideas. Clear sightlines, seating clusters, and acoustic treatments guide movement and interaction, creating a balanced and comfortable environment. Meeting rooms, scaled from intimate one-on-one spaces to larger team areas, provide flexibility for formal and informal engagements alike, supporting cross-team collaboration.
Inviting Interaction Points: Strategically positioned seating clusters, integrated planters, and curated lighting create natural pauses in circulation, encouraging casual dialogue and organic idea exchange.
Adaptive Collaboration: Modular furniture, open layouts, and adaptable meeting spaces allow seamless transitions between focused work, impromptu discussions, and larger gatherings, supporting an energetic workplace rhythm.
Culture in Focus: Celebrating People and Heritage
The design places people at the centre rather than relying on overt corporate branding. A gallery of archival vehicle photographs traces ComfortDelGro’s transport heritage, grounding the contemporary workplace in the company’s history and evolution over time. A restrained tonal palette and orchestrated spatial flow create an environment that feels timeless yet approachable. Art is woven throughout the workplace in a “Living Gallery”, featuring a curated collection of works by local artists and potters gathered over the decades, forming visual touchpoints that guide movement, invite reflection, and enrich everyday experience. Vibrant pieces energise collaborative zones, while contemplative works encourage focus and pause, reflecting the office’s overarching “Urban Rhythm”, a balance of motion and stillness.
Heritage in Focus: Archival vehicle imagery reflects ComfortDelGro’s transport heritage, grounding the workplace in a shared history and identity.
Curated Engagement: Strategically integrated artworks guide movement across collaborative hubs and quieter zones, introducing moments of pause and reflection while shaping an engaging spatial journey.
A Living Workspace: Where Values Take Shape
The new ComfortDelGro headquarters brings the company’s core values to life through design. Interaction, comfort and seamless collaboration are prioritised through thoughtful spatial planning, reflecting a commitment to service excellence. Integrity and sustainability are embedded in material choices and environmental considerations, while a people-centred approach celebrates employees, fosters connection and inspires creativity. By translating these values into tangible experiences, the workplace extends beyond a functional office to become a purposeful environment that supports, enables, and brings people together.
“The new office is designed around how we work, not just functional requirements. Spaces flow naturally, supporting both collaboration and focused work while adapting to our day-to-day routines. Moving from Braddell was a big change, but Conexus guided us smoothly, helping us engage our teams and embrace the transition. Their attention to detail, from circulation to lighting to spatial planning, made the project feel seamless and personal. The office inspires how we work, bringing people together, sparking ideas, and energising our everyday experiences.”
