For its Singapore office, this global engineering firm needed a meaningful space that would help two business divisions come together and innovate. An irregular L-shaped layout where columns run through the interior created a natural segregation, so careful space planning was key to bring connections to the work day. To break down these barriers, an open-plan workspace was configured with strategically planned meeting spaces and touchdown areas, inspiring employees to move around easily and collaborate as needed or when inspiration strikes.

A Workplace that Inspires

To encourage interaction and collaboration, spontaneous meeting areas were placed in high-traffic zones and a central pantry was created for the two teams to come together. The latter are also important to the local culture – they’re where employees can take a break, enjoy a meal, and build relationships.

The use of biophilic design principles has also been incorporated into the space, maximising natural light for all employees and reserving built-up rooms to the interior. In addition, light colours, glass doors and warm wood accents help to open up the space and create a transparent and welcoming environment.
