Retrofitting an office for return to work is a key focus in post-pandemic workplace design. Our confidential client’s restacking project offered a chance to put strategies in place for COVID-19 safety while reconfiguring the space plan for improved efficiencies.
The de-densification of the layout allowed for circulation corridors to be at least 150cm wide, as well as a wider back-to-back distancing of more than 1.2 metres. Generous clear dividers serve as physical distancing shields between each adjustable-height desk, and also give employees a stronger sense of personal space.
Modernised and upgraded with employee experience in mind, the revamped office also offers improved natural light penetration and a more connected layout, despite the social distancing. At the centre of the office, a convivial breakout area allow different departments to come together — sure to be popular when gatherings are allowed again.
